Photography found Christy early in life. Growing up in Manhattan, Kansas, she was introduced to the craft by her father, a hobbyist photographer. What began as assisting in his darkroom soon blossomed into a deep and personal creative pursuit. Through her local 4-H group, Christy honed her skills and nurtured a love for capturing life’s meaningful moments.
Life took her temporarily down a corporate path, but her creative spark never faded. It was on her honeymoon in Africa — camera in hand — that Christy realized her calling was too strong to ignore. She took a leap of faith, and Happy Chick Photography was born.

The name isn’t just whimsical — it reflects Christy’s philosophy on photography and life. She knew that if she could leave her corporate job and do photography as her profession, that she would be a "Happy Chick".
